The Charisma  of Revathi

After joining Sulekha I have done 199 blogs .I cant believe myself. I am now heading towards the double century. I want my double century to be a little different from my regular /routine . Sometimes  When I am sitting in front of my computer I get the subject  in a flash or when Iam out I scribble on my diary or mobile phone on the topic that I intend to write.   Elaborating the subject normally will not take more than 30 minutes for me as I decide what to write , how to frame the blog and where to insert the pictures. I   edit after seeing the published page immediately after noting the changes to be made .For my next blog I am yet to decide on the subject.I wish it should be a better and much better .After galloping through the blogs for an hour  I short listed two main theme Most of my blogs come under five categories. My favorite topics are always a mix of five “c”s ..Let us look at it

Next what should be my 200^th blog .Either it should me on music or it should be a travelogue of my west Indies tour an year ago .Out of the two semi final themes which I was brooding over my topic for the 200^th blog. During my journey to my work place  there is a tug of war going on for the past two days. Finally my mind settled for a compromise. To do music as the 200^th  blog and travelogue as the 201^st  blog. 

Let us start playing music. I am not going to write on another raga or thalam. ‘Then what else is there  in the music?’ You may ask. This blog will briefly review the ragams that I tuned in my Sulekha blogs all along.

Out of all these ragas

Which is captivating me more more and more?

Which is drenching me in   ecstasy ?

Which has created a turbulence in my mind?

Which is luring me behind and behind ?

Which has become like  my break fast and lunch?

Which is my pepsi or coco cola this summer? 

Which has shaken my brain with a great impact ?

Which has reverberated my nerves  abnormally ?

Which has harmonized my blood cells?

Is there anything wrong in my  madness to music?

Is my mind changing and changing in my love and lust  for music ?

 Will my mind be stable now and say this is the best and the best of my life’s music .?

Can I confidently put a stamp and say no other song or sruthi can settle in my mind for the rest of my life ?

Let me run through again the past episodes / blogs.

Since Aug 2007 I was writing on the ragas that appealed to me rich and radiant and  the associated film songs that has the tinting of the raga and revealing the charisma

Each has its own beauty., elegance, and rhythm. If I say today one tomorrow I like 2, 3, 4----10 like that the game was on. When I say I like this it does not mean that I dislike the other. It is a tough decision to rank which is number  one .People in Chennai might have seen in TVs umpteen competitions on music , dance etc is picking momentum day by day. Now a days lot of channels have copied the events and running the show  in different names but the ultimate theme of all is the best performer is selected by the judges as well as by the public voting system from the viewers watching such programs. The decision giving is  not at all easy  and the plight of the judges and the performers is very interesting to watch. Like this I was under tight scrutiny to find out the most fascinating Raga of mine over the past six months.

After writing all these blogs I collected maximum songs in each category and keep on listening to the maximum extent. Each Raga comprising more than ten songs I could get [ [except sohini ]] which has  been penetrating my ears for years.  Kalyana vasantham and  Revathi have been repeatedly taking me for a ride. They are in my semifinal list almost. My ears saturating me with these ragas quite repeatedly , one racing ahead than the other. Like this my life  was gliding and gliding, heart cherishing “chaltha hai! , chaltha hai”

Of late when I take out my personal mp3 player ,I had lent my years to non stop music of only one raga .Replaying again and again, again and again. It is the great thillana in Revathi with thavil as the accompanying percussion instrument. In thillanas especially on  Nadhaswaram  thavil dominates and makes it  magical. But in this song that is unique more than mridhangam the thavil suits this raga and the tempos in the peaks are of course mesmerizing The thavil  with the bouncing thala how magically  revolves round your ears and keeps you hunting and hunting. Only when you experience you can appreciate .In my blog on Revahi I remember having mentioned that whoever misses Revathi misses something great in the  life. I want to go ahead one step more. Even the day when I die or when Yaman tightens the rope on my neck I wish my ears keep binding with this raga  and my soul also be  chanting in revathi is what I aspire in the musical world of life. 

I am integrating  this raga  again in this blog and my previous blog on “Revathi The Romantic Raga”  will have a different keerthanai but  still in Revathi.. I  shall put a link of my previous blog also at the end of this page so that new comers will enjoy both the worlds, Pl don’t miss the song “ “Mahadeva shiva sambo” in the above blog.

Let all experience the and enjoy this raga sung on Lord muruga and cleanse our heart with this divine melody. The music file takes only 2 to 3 minutes for loading and by the time you finsh this blog Revathi would have circulated in your blood also.
