KOUNDAMANI COUNTING MONEY
When I was in school my friends triggered a puzzle.Though not much complicated when narrated ,the problem is the missing one rupee.Ofcourse not a Koundamani banana story .For non tamils who do not know the koundamani joke Mani sends his friend to buy banana.He goes and buys and on his way back he hid himself in a tree and gulped one banana and then he meets his friend Mani to hand over the remaining banana.Here comes the classic dialogues
come here my friend orders Mani.How much i gave you asks mani? .Friend replies "one rupee"
How many bananas I told you to buy? asks mani ; "two" says friend.
Again Mani quashes him " you gave me one . where is the other one?" .Friend replies "This is the other one"
Again grilling the friend and the innocent replies of the friend repatedly five times " This is the other one" irritates Mani and the entire inmates repeat the same question to the friend but the same answer keep on coming from the friend every time and the whole climax of kicking the friend and chasing the friend running is the greatest comedy of tamil matinee" .the joke is enjoyable with all tamil accents only and may not sound well in english..

However Coming to the problem of my school time:
Three guys A,B, C go to a hotel to have a bite."A" is called Koundamani called Mani .Each contributed Rs10 / = for the party.i.e RS thirty in toto and.Mani was having the fund. They have finished the dosa, cofee etc etc.The supplier finally comes with a bill for Rs Twenty five Mani kept Rs thirty on the bill.The supplier returns the balance of Rs 5/= in one rupee denomination hoping for a tips from the gang. Mani took the five one rupee notes and gave one rupee each to B and C and one rupee he put in his packet.The remaining two rupees he took on his right hand and called the supplier and thrust it in his pocket,With that their eating was over and they came out of the hotel.
When they came out Mani was thinking thinking and coming.Suddenly he stopped near a tree and called both B and C.Hai Friends !I have a feeling we are cheated in the transaction.He explains to them the calculation:
!.All of us brought ten rupees each to the hotel."Agreed" roared Mani .All nodded
2.All of us got the returns one rupee each ."Agreed" he asks?.All agreed
3.This means each of us spent Rs 9// for the food and totally Rs 27 for the food ."Agreed" or not " he asks.All nodded
4.we gave Rs 2// as tips .Agreed or not he bounces .All agreed 100%
5.So Rs 27 plus 2 comes to RS 29// only
6.We brought 30 Rupees but we are accounting only RS 29//
7.Where is that one rupee gone.Who cheated us he asks his friend.Can you all help Koundamani
